Native landscaping at Ralph Street

Just a few photos of the soon-to-be-lush native landscape work we did over at Ralph Street.

Note: when you take plants from their natural environment they undergo some shock, and often drop their leaves or show other signs of distress. With heavy watering for a few weeks they will fully recover, and once established will require no additional irrigation apart from our climate's natural rainfall.

In the top photo you can see the beautyberries and four o'clocks I put in the back along the porch. In the bottom photo you can see the beautyberries in the front on the left, and if you look just past the steps you might be able to see the oak leaf hydrangeas I put in right there. There are a few lantana babies at the front edge of the mulched path. Unfortunately we've got some very healthy weeds, and the pine straw mulch hasn't distracted them very much. We'll probably re-mulch the path and the beds. I might put down
some landscape cloth to keep the weeds under better control as well.
