I read this article in the paper this morning and was excited. I'm in the market to buy a house and would love to live in the Riverside area. It would cut down on my commute time to work and give me the opportunity to get involved in some great community happenings. How do I find out more about this program? Your RADO website has nothing. Shall I come to your office? Where is that? Thanks! Lori (loribeans@gmail.com)

My wife and I just bought a house in 5 Points on Gilmore. I remember when we were looking around we had seen somewhere that the list to sell ratio for Riverside/Avondale was around 90%. So, yeah, Riverside is an amazing area to live in. Besides, you don't get the feeling of community out on southside blvd or JTB or Arlington. It's just not the same.

I should mention that as a community development organization, we sell homes to buyers who want to live in them, not those who want to flip them for the sake of short-term profit. We're focused on the long-term vitality of the community. We see purchasing a home as a good way for our clients to create personal wealth in the form of equity, but viewing homes (and therefore communities) as commodities is a quite toxic trend, socially speaking.
